Fibromyalgia in Natural Health

fibromyalgia

In conventional medicine

  • Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tightness in localized areas. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting how your brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals.
  • Symptoms often begin after an event, such as physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event.
  • Women are more likely to develop fibromyalgia than men. Many people with fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.
  • While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help.

In natural health

  • Fibromyalgia is from wind, cold and dampness invades the meridian, and lead to blockage, then causes pain, LG(Liver & Gall Bladder) energy stasis plays a very important role in the mechanism of fibromyalgia.
In conventional medicine, the pathogenesis of this disease is still unclear. It is reported in the literature that it is related to sleep disorders, abnormal secretion of neurotransmitters and immune disorders.
  • Sleep disorders affect 60% to 90% of patients. It is manifested as easy to wake up in sleep, dreaminess, lack of energy in the morning, fatigue, general pain and morning stiffness. Nocturnal EEG recordings found that alpha waves intervened in stage IV delta sleep waves. Disrupting volunteers' non-rapid eye movement sleep (non-rapid eye movement) with ringtones can also induce the above-mentioned EEG patterns and clinical symptoms. Other factors that affect sleep, such as mental stress and environmental noise, can aggravate the symptoms of fibromyalgia syndrome. Therefore, it is speculated that this stage IV sleep abnormality plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of fibromyalgia syndrome.
  • Abnormal secretion of neurotransmitters has been reported in the literature that neurotransmitters such as serotonin (5-HT) and substance P (substance P) play an important role in the pathogenesis of this disease.
  • Immune disorders Some authors have reported deposition of immune-reactive substances at the dermis-epidermal junction in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome. Swelling of muscle capillary endothelial cells in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome was observed by electron microscopy, suggesting acute vascular injury, tissue hypoxia, and increased permeability. The patient's frequent reports of unexplained weight gain, diffuse swelling of the hands, and nocturia may be related to increased permeability.
  • Infection Some people think FS is related to infection, especially Epstein-Barr virus and Burgdorferi spirochete infection.
  • Medical studies of fibromyalgia have reported abnormalities in the muscles and tendons, but those are subtle changes in morphology, particularly the more rigorous studies using MRI, which have failed to confirm it.
In natural health, we believe that the disease is related to wind, cold, and dampness. When the immune system is working at a lower level, people could be easily attacked by wind, cold, and dampness toxin, for instance, sleeping on wet ground or being blown by the wind, etc., which can cause an ischemic muscle spasm, and a large number of harmful metabolites are produced in the muscles, which stimulate nerve receptors and cause pain. Fibromyalgia could also be affected or triggered by all kinds of bad habits, especially when people have terrible emotional habits or experience abuse from family or other people. LG(Liver & Gall Bladder) energy stasis plays a significant role in the mechanism of fibromyalgia.

Pain is the main symptom of fibromyalgia. The pain spots may be about 18 in the whole body but show up each time differently, which may be 2-5 spots and mild to severe. The pain may feel like a deep ache (dull pain) or shooting, burning pain as well as tightness, fatigue, sleeping disorder (can't fall asleep or stay asleep, and they feel tired when they wake up), and depressed mood.

Patients with fibromyalgia generally have fire and water energy low in the SS (Stomach & Spleen) for a long time, making wind, cold, and dampness toxins invade SS. These toxins will arrest the body's energy flow and blood flow to make LG (Liver & Gallbladder) energy stasis and even blood blockage to generate several muscle pains because SS dominates muscles.

To treat fibromyalgia, smoothing LG energy flow is the key is using HappyForte/HF Capsule. If the patients have severe constipation, we need to use LiverDetox/LDX Capsule; when the severe constipation is gone, we change back to HappyForte/HF Capsule; replenishing fire and water energy is a must with RenoNature/RN Capsule for males and MensesBalance/MB Capsule for females generally, if the patient's fire energy is deficient, we could use Reno Fire Pill/RFP Capsule. However, if the patient's stool is becoming dry and hard, we need to change back to RenoNature/RN Capsule for males, MensesBalance/MB Capsule; if the patients have a lot of arthritis joints pain, we can use RheuBeat/RB Capsule instead of RenoNature or MensesBalance or Reno Fire Pill; improving circulation is necessary for recovery with RheuBeatPlus/RBP Capsule + Clot Broker/CB Capsule.

Other natural therapies, such as acupuncture, tuina, guasha, and cupping therapy, will significantly help patients' recovery; designing a good exercise plan is also necessary.
